ROI-finalOver many years as a Financial Consultant I discovered that integrity was severely lacking throughout the corporate world. Many organizations list this as a core value however when asked to explain what it means – they can’t. I believe that this is because there was never a time in our education that this was clearly defined. There was never a time in our lives that we were held accountable for our own integrity.

My definition of integrity has evolved through my experiences. I now define integrity, and use it in this book, in the following way…

“Integrity – is the quality of being honest, truthful and accurate in ones actions. A state of being whole, entire and undiminished.”

As the Chief Financial Officer for several organizations throughout my career, I experienced frustration with the complete and utter focus on the “bottom line” – increase revenue, decrease expenses, improve the bottom line. I heard these comments over and over. The focus was on their “return on investment” or the “ROI”

My coaching was to see the numbers as merely a symptom. Focus on your people and the bottom line, top line and any other line you care to track will automatically improve. When you send healthy, happy, inspired people out to visit potential clients, their energy is infectious. Everyone wants to be a part of uplifting enthusiasm. Thus sales will increase. When people are using their natural gifts and communicating effectively with team members they are engaged which means naturally more productive. Thus expenses decrease. End result – bottom line improves.
